It’s only natural to assume that the same things will keep happening over and over again. And certainly, they will, if you do nothing or keep doing the same things the same way.
But apart from that, assuming the worst before even getting close usually proves wrong, because the doors are different.
How are you supposed to have satisfaction if you haven’t even gone in that direction? You are only at the mercy of external forces and circumstances. Therefore, not being destroyed is the only thing you can hope for, more or less. The reason is obvious, even if everything external is not destructive, they probably won’t wish you good as much as you do for yourself.
Taking a chance is the only reasonable option.
Taking a step-by-step approach works because, truthfully, it’s oftentimes the only option you have along with avoidance. The solve-it-once-and-for-all way usually does not exist, we just imagine it does.
This is especially true about bigger issues. Because they don’t emerge overnight, they can’t be fully resolved at once. There might be a key part in the solution, an act that prevents things from going south, but to witness a solid improvement, taking some more steps is likely needed.
And then there are inevitable falls, call them the rule or exceptions, you cannot avoid taking the L anyway, therefore, you need to keep putting out fire, every day.
Unwanted problems manifest themselves if and when one despises spending time alone. Even the healthiest individuals of society need to be in that state from time to time.
Does not matter if one attempts to avoid feeling certain emotions by being an activist for something important, the end result might be a disaster.
It is unlikely for someone who is not okay with himself/herself (to some degree) to think clearly. Serious malfunctions will occur. The what might be on point, but the how will not see much progress in the right direction.
Ignorance and malevolence are the result of such things.
Everything is sunshine and roses on theory. Every way of living, every alternative of products, every form of government, they all are either compelling or has their pros.
Reality is much different. And because it’s the reality we live in, our approach to any of these things are not trivial…
For some, life could be defined as a “determining the lies we’ve been sold” project.
Set aside all the misjudgments humans made because of their limitations, there are plenty of malevolence in the world. Bitter, lazy but ambitious people get their way probably more than we imagine.
Those who gave up hope tend to believe that evil always gets its way. It’s a depressing thought. But if that’s what you believe, you don’t have to do anything then, that’s why they are drawn to it.
The thing to consider, though, is that we have control a little more than we think. And control brings all sorts of “positive emotions”. This makes starting that project far more preferable to the other.
The advantage of being at the bottom is that you don’t have too much to lose. There’s a big chance you are going to start functioning better if you drop or acquire the right thing.
Naturally, the opposite is true for having things. Certain things are critical for your current state. You either already know what that is, or going to learn the hard way. If your life is not designed around what you are about, it will almost surely slip away. It’s important that you engage in it regularly.
Accountability is your friend. Whatever you do to keep yourself in check, it has to be a part of your life.
We have to work our way to freedom, by definition.
If our speech and behavior is influenced by our thinking, then thinking is the first level when it comes to freedom.
Considering people who think alike tend to live together and different communities have different values, our thoughts are not…
The question of whether one should specialize in something or generalize is relevant because, on the one hand, no progress will be made unless you have deep understanding, and on the other hand, things influence each other.
Community is important because by sharing with each other we move forward, and…
